SCATCHES

First Drawing

Art was always my passion, but I did not have any chances to start. One day, I looked at yellow pages and called a place where art lessons took place. I think it was 2001. There I met Mrs. Barbara Martin who was a retired art teacher. We became friends and shared our life stories together. We met each other thanks to God. She gave me paper and a pencil to draw a photo of President Jimmy Carter. It was my first drawing. Mrs. Barbara Martin always encouraged me and comforted me.

Waiting Room

Sitting in the waiting room of a doctor's office or beauty shop can be boring. I make the best of my time by drawing whatever image attracts me. Every line and shadow has artistic value. Everyone has artistic quality in various forms. Making the best out of our time makes our life more meaningful and beautiful, like a songwriter can write a song with inspiration from a special moment. A society that encourages art is always going to flourish.

Tear

When we can have tears, we are blessed that we did not lose our heart. When I meet those who can no longer even have one tear drop, my heart seems to stop. "Does God have tears too?" I questioned. Knowing that God will wipe our tears in heaven, we can try to calm our hearts and trust Him and His sovereignty. God is the defender of the weak.

In Hee Settle

While learning from artist In Hee Settle, I started drawing from different perspectives to fully see objects to build more of my artistic ability in oil painting. In Hee is a formal art instructor at Arizona State University. In Hee mentored Inseong to help her grow in drawing skills and to appreciate observing objects with in-depth quality.
